An Art Deco Diamond And Black Enamel Brooch
An Art Deco diamond and black enamel brooch, to the centre a realistically carved German Shepherd dog, set with single-cut diamonds and black enamel decorations, surrounded by a black enamelled circle with diamond-set decorations, the diamonds estimated to weigh 2 carats in total, all mounted in gold and platinum, circa 1930, measuring approximately 3.1 x 3.2cm, gross weight 11.2 grams.
A charming Art Deco brooch. This brooch features a black enamel open circle, in the centre of which is depicted a diamond-encrusted German Shepherd with further black enamel details. Two glittering bands of diamonds accentuate either side of the black circle in which the realistically modelled dog is posed. The German Shepherd was first bred in the early twentieth century by Max von Stephanitz to be a working dog, a tradition still followed today. Elegant and striking, this brooch would look wonderful on the lapel of a jacket.
