A Pair Of Victorian Garnet And Diamond Drop Earrings
A pair of Victorian garnet and diamond drop earrings, each earring consisted of an oval cabochon garnet with diamond-set leaves above, suspending a pear-shape cabochon garnet with similar foliate diamond-set decorations, all mounted in silver and yellow gold, with gold wire fittings, circa 1850, measuring approximately 38 x 9mm, gross weight 6 grams. This pair of earrings is in very good condition. Unmarked, tested as 15ct gold and silver, with 18ct gold hook fittings.
A striking and ornate pair of nineteenth century earrings. Each of these earrings feature an oval cabochon-cut garnet with diamond-set foliate decorations above and below it, suspended from a further garnet with diamond decorations. The diamonds are bright and lively and provide a wonderful contrast to the dramatic crimson garnet. These earrings exemplify the mid-Victorian period and would look stunning with a simple evening dress.
