Akelo, Master of Granulation

Akelo was born in 1967 in the Italian region of Etruria, in a village built over ancient Etruscan ruins. Akelo trained as a master goldsmith and works in the tradition of Ancient Etruscan jewellery, creating masterfully crafted works in gold. His trademark techniques of micro granulation and filigree work echo the designs of antiquity. He has researched ancient techniques in order to accurately practice them in his own craft, resulting in a body of work that is impressive and compelling. Works by Akelo are in the permanent collections of several museums, including the Vatican Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and the Newark Museum.
