Akelo, Master of Granulation

Andrea Cagnetti, or Akelo, born in 1967 in Viterbo, Italy, is a modern master of goldsmithing and ancient metallurgical techniques. After finishing school, Akelo dedicated himself to an in-depth study of ancient metalworking techniques. Akelo uses techniques and tools that have been used in goldsmithing for thousands of years. Drawing inspiration from Etruscan, Greek, and Roman jewellery, Akelo’s designs are imbued with both antiquity and modernity. Akelo’s work can be seen in the museum collections of The Vatican, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Newark Museum, and others.
