A Victorian half pearl floral necklace, consisting of eleven flower clusters each centrally-set with an old brilliant-cut diamond, the diamonds estimated to weigh 1 carat in total, to a pear-set gold chain with box clasp, all mounted in 18ct yellow gold, circa 1860, measuring approximately 39.5 x 1cm, gross weight 20.9 grams.
A gorgeous necklace. This collar-length necklace features eleven floral clusters with the flower petals set with lovely natural pearls. In the centre of each flower is a glittering old-cut diamond, which complements the pearls wonderfully. The clusters are connected by further pearls and a chain set with half pearls. Short pearl and diamond necklaces were extremely popular in the mid-Victorian era and continue to have an alluring appeal. The combination of pearls, diamonds, and yellow gold is beautiful, and this piece would be the perfect finishing touch to a black-tie ensemble.
