More informationA Belle Époque diamond and natural pearl négligée necklace by Marret Frères, consisting of a diamond-set bow and wreath, suspending two asymmetrical diamond-set runs, the one terminating to a marquise-cut diamond weighing 2.87 carats, accompanied by De Beers report stating to be of L colour and VS2 clarity, the other drop terminating to a large natural saltwater pearl, all suspended by a fine platinum chain, accompanied by original screw-driver and detachable brooch frame, all within the original fitted case by case by Marret Frères, 352 Rue St. Honoré in Paris, circa 1901-1910, the jeweled part measuring approximately 7.2 x 2.2m, the chain mearuring approximately 36cm long, gross weight 13.8 grams.
In 1826, Hippolyte and Charles Marret joined foces with Claude-André Bernier forming a house called Bénier et Marret Frères. When Bénier retired in 1829, the company adopted the name Marret Frères. In 1834 the Marret Freres moved at the Hôtel de Colbert, in 16 rue Vivienne, and in 1901, the company moved their premises in 352, rue Saint-Honoré, at the Hôtel Savalette de Lange, where they operated until 1910, when the company was purchased and merged with J. Bancelin.
