A Victorian opal and diamond necklace by Hancock & Co, consisting of three graduating from the centre round cabochon-cut opal and diamond-set clusters, each suspending a diamond-set line terminating to a pear-shaped cabochon-cut opal, alternating with diamond-set links of scroll design suspending round cabochon-cut opals, on each side with three round opals alternating with three old-cut diamonds, to a yellow gold knife edge link chain delicately set old brilliant-cut diamonds in cut-down collets, the diamonds estimated to weigh 7 carats in total, all set in silver to yellow gold back, accompanied by original fitted box, circa 1890, the central drop measuring approximately 5cm long, the necklace measuring approximately 38cm long, gross weight 29.4 grams.
The above piece is over 100 years old and as therefore antique.
