A sweet and evocative early Victorian ring. This piece is an acrostic ring, meaning that the stones spell out a message. These rings were typically given to one’s sweetheart in the nineteenth century and have a lovely romantic connotation. This particular ring spells ‘REGARD’, a popular acrostic message in this era. The floral gold details of the ring’s setting are emblematic of the late Georgian and early Victorian period when designs were more detailed and featured foliate motifs. A lovely antique piece.
