A Victorian gold mounted half pearl, diamond and blue enamel ring, the half pearl measuring approximately 4.4 x 5.1 mm, set to the centre of the star with rose diamond accents, in a blue enamel surround, circa 1850, finger size K, gross weight 2.5 grams.
A charming and fine ring. Vivid cobalt blue enamel encases a lovely pink-hued lustrous pearl which is set into the shape of a six-pointed star studded with diamonds. This Victorian piece was made in around 1850 and has a small locket on the back face of the ring where a very small hairwork relic lies. This suggests that this ring was originally a mourning ring, as the locket holding the hair sits flush with the finger and is not visible from the outside of the piece. The wonderful blue tone of the enamel contrasts beautifully with the diamond and pearl, making this sweet ring a wonderful example of Victorian enamel jewellery.
