Description

A Georgian amethyst and diamond-set urn ring, the urn set with twelve faceted amethysts, with old-mine cut diamond details to a closed back setting, with crystal locket compartment to the reverse containing hair, to a plain gold shank, circa 1810, measuring approximately 2 x 1.5cm, finger size O 1/2, gross weight 2.5 grams.

A truly interesting piece. With its glazed locket hidden to the reverse of the ring, the wearer would be able to enclose a lock of hair, from either a loved one or a deceased family member. This would enable to wearer to keep the loved one closed to them.
