A Roman carnelian intaglio mounted in a gold ring, the oval-shaped carnelian measuring approximately 12 x 9mm, the engraving depicting Athena with Nike in her hand, horizontally set to a later yellow gold mount with closed back and tapering shank, intaglio circa 1st-2nd century AD, gold mount circa late 19th century, measuring 21×12 mm, finger size O½, gross weight 8.3 grams.
