A remarkable parure. This set is in the archaeological revival style, which became popular in the mid-nineteenth century as archaeological expeditions uncovered treasures of the ancient world. This parure draws inspiration from Egyptian and Etruscan motifs. The necklace is woven from fine gold mesh and hanging from the necklace are seventeen scarab beetles carved from coral. The scarab beetles are attached to delicate rosettes and frogs. This motif continues in the earrings, brooch, and bracelet. The bracelet and brooch feature wonderful Etruscan details, such as applied gold wirework. This magnificent suite is a perfect example of the archaeological revival style.
