More informationAn Art Deco rock crystal and diamond brooch by Linzeler et Marchak, the rectangular shaped rock crystal frame with fluted terminals, millegrain-set with old brilliant cut diamonds estimated to weigh 1 carat in total, mounted in platinum and white gold, signed Linzeler Marchak, bearing French assay marks for 18ct gold and platinum, inventory number 1475, circa 1922-1927, measuring 3.9 x 2cm, gross weight 9 grams.
Linzeler et Marchak was formed in 1922, a partnership between the Parisian jeweller Robert Lizeler and Alexander Marchak, the son of Alexander Marchak of Kiev, who had migrated in Paris in 1918. Linzeler et Marchak were awarded a Grand Prix at the 1925 Paris Exhibition International des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Moderne for the quality, design, craftsmanship and technical expertise of their jewelry designs. However, it was later that year that the partnership ended, and Alexander Marchak took over the shop at 4 rue de la Paix, keeping the name Linzeler et Marchak until he changed it to A. Marchak in December 1927.
An elegant Art Deco brooch by Linzeler et Marchak. Crafted during the 1920s through a brief yet illustrious collaboration between Parisian jeweller Robert Linzeler and Russian jeweller Alexander Marchak, the brooch showcases a magnificent rock crystal adorned with diamonds along its sides. This masterful creation took shape within Linzeler’s boutique on 4 Rue de la Paix in Paris. Their exceptional craftsmanship earned them prestigious recognition at the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, where they were awarded with the Grand Prix. Consequently, this brooch stands as a rare treasure from the Art Deco period, epitomizing exquisite artistry and making it a cherished addition to any discerning jewellery collection.
