A late Victorian ruby and diamond clover brooch

Description

A late Victorian ruby and diamond clover brooch, the three par-shaped faceted rubies estimated to weigh 2.4 carats in total, accompanied by GCS report stating to be of Burmese origin with no indications of heating, with Swiss-cut diamond-set surrounds all within a circular diamond-set border, the diamonds estimated to weigh 2 carats in total, all set in silver and gold, with detachable gold brooch fitting and a foldable pendant loop, circa 1900, measuring approximately 3×2.6cm, gross weight 10.9 grams.

A captivating Victorian clover brooch. This piece was made in 1900, at the very end of the Victorian period shortly before Edward VII succeeded the throne. The three pear-shaped rubies which form the leaves of the clover are of a vivid and impressive pink colour and are truly captivating. The clover flower is a universal symbol of good fortune but is also known to symbolise protection and prosperity in many cultures. The scintillating diamonds complement the bright rubies beautifully. Bold yet feminine, this brooch would look truly striking worn against a black blazer. This piece can also be worn as a beautiful pendant, which would be perfect paired with a smart cocktail dress for an evening event. A feminine and gracious brooch.
