Ilgiz creates colourful, ornate jewellery and works of wearable art using enamel, precious metal, and coloured gemstones. Ilgiz’s signature style blends three distinct styles: Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and his national heritage of central Asian design and craftsmanship. The level of creativity and craftsmanship in Ilgiz’s work combine perfectly in every piece he makes, and each creation is a detailed masterwork.
Ilgiz Fazulzyanov was born in 1968 in Zelenodolsk, Republic of Tatarstan. He opened his first jewellery workshop in 1992 with the aim of reviving the craftsmanship of the Volga Tatars. Ilgiz is particularly well known for his skills in enamel work, creating miniature masterpieces of champlevé enamel and plique-à-jour enamel.
He creates incredibly fine and exquisite works of wearable art that display true craftsmanship and skill. In 2011 and 2013 Ilgiz’s work was awarded the Grand Prix in International Jewellery Design Excellence Award. In 2016, Ilgiz F. became the first living jeweller to be honoured with a solo exhibition of his work at the Kremlin Museum, Moscow, since Peter Karl Fabergé in 1917.
