A pair of Byzantine earrings, each earring consisting of a hollow hoop with a hinged fastening and openwork filigree in the form of a ringed cross between scroll decorations, and suspending three chain drops, the central one terminating to an emerald round bead with a pearl finial and the other two terminating to an oval amethyst bead with a pearl finial, circa 600 AD, each earring with a later gold shepherd’s hook ear fitting, measuring 8 x 2.3cm, gross weight 15.7 grams.
