An Etruscan Revival Gold And Coral Hinged Bangle
An Etruscan Revival gold and coral hinged bangle, set to the one side with twelve cabochon-cut corals, surrounded by wire-work decoration of geometric design, the other side with wirework of similar design, applied the motto “ROMA”, all with gold bead edge,in 18ct yellow gold, circa 1870, measuring approximately 5.5cm in diameter and 2.7cm in width, gross weight 27.0 grams. Unmarked tested as 18ct gold. An Etruscan Revival gold in very good condition.
A magnificent Etruscan Revival bracelet. During the nineteenth century, new archaeological discoveries started a craze across Europe for jewellery made in the style of the ancient world. This exceptional bangle features wirework and micro granulation, both typical techniques used in Ancient Etruscan jewellery. The cabochon-cut coral contrasts beautifully with the bright yellow gold of the bracelet. To the back of the bracelet is the word “ROMA” spelled out with wirework, adding a charmingly authentic touch to this revival piece.
