More informationA pair of Roman gold and iridescent glass earrings, each earring with an iridescent glass head of an Aethiope resting on a gold Corinthian order capital with filigree and beading decorations, the column formed of twisted gold wire tapering to the end forming a hoop, circa 1-100 AD, the one earring measuring 3.9 x 1.8cm the other measuring 4 x 2.1cm, gross weight 15 grams.
Provenance: From the private collection of Mr. R. Unger; previously with a London gallery; acquired in before 2000 on the UK art market.
