A Victorian Sapphire And Diamond Twin Heart Ring
A Victorian sapphire and diamond twin heart ring, each heart with a pear shaped faceted sapphire, weighing approximately 0.40 carats, surrounded by an old brilliant-cut diamond cluster, surmounted by diamond-set ribbon bow, all claw set to gold mount with tapering shoulders, circa 1890, head measuring 1.3×1.4cm, finger size M 1/2, gross weight 4.2 grams. This Victorian ring is in very good condition, minimal abrasion to the sapphires,
consistent with age. Unmarked tested as 18ct gold.
A charming and romantic ring. Twin heart rings such as this were popular in the late nineteenth century when this piece was made. This is an exceptional example of such a ring, featuring two identical hearts set with a vivid blue sapphire and surrounded by diamonds. A bow ties the two sapphire-set hearts together, echoing the heart shape. This ring symbolises two people coming together in a union of love, making it a perfect and unique antique engagement ring.
