More informationA pair of George III silver sauce tureens by Paul Storr, the body with two reeded tapering handles and the lid with reeded loop handle with foliate decorations, the stepped pedestal foot with gadrooned border, the body and cover both engraved with family crest, hallmarked sterling silver, London 1796, bearing Paul Storr’s sponsor mark, each measuring approximately 22 x 13.5 x 10 cm, gross weight 39 troy ounces.
A fine pair of silver sauce tureens offered by Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Lidded sauce tureen became popular in the 1770s and were typically made in pairs. With an elegant two-handle shape that is typical of the 18th century, these tureens are classic in style, and are examples of Paul Storr’s excellent workmanship. These tureens would make a fine addition to a dinner service.
