An Edwardian Enamel Flower Brooch

Description

An Edwardian enamel flower brooch, in the form of a spray with a finely enamelled English Daisy and a Virginia Rose, each centrally-set with an old European-cut diamond estimated to weigh 0.1 carats in total, entwined with gold tendril decorations, all mounted in yellow gold with gold brooch fitting, circa 1900, measuring approximately 3.9 x 1.5cm, gross weight 5.7 grams.

A naturalistic Edwardian brooch The two lovely flowers, an English Daisy and a Virginia Rose are detailed and wonderfully rendered in enamel: the daisy features creamy white petals surrounding a gold centre set with a glittering diamond, and the rose features lovely pink enamel petals surrounding a further lively diamond. This brooch is emblematic of the early Edwardian period, when floral motifs became popular, and would be pretty worn on the lapel of a smart boucle summer jacket.
