A late 19th century Russian amethyst and diamond brooch, the oval faceted amethyst measuring 17.8 x 15.5mm and estimated to weigh 11 carats surrounded by an openwork trellis-like diamond-set frame flanked with six old European-cut diamonds estimated to weigh ½ carat each, the diamonds estimated to have a combined weight of 7.5 carats in total, all cut-down and grain-set in silver to yellow gold back with gold brooch fitting, bearing Russian hallmarks for 56 zolotnik, Moscow, circa 1908-1917, measuring 4 x 3.8cm, gross weight 17.5 grams.
