More informationA fine Art Deco diamond and sapphire bar brooch, to the centre a transitional brilliant-cut diamond estimated to weigh 1.75 carats, assessed colour H-I, assessed clarity VS1-2, set between five fancy-cut sapphires on each side, to an openwork diamond-set plaque of geometric design, all within two rows of old European-cut diamonds, the diamonds estimated to weigh 6 carats in total, all millegrain-set in platinum mount, with platinum pin fitting, circa 1930, measuring approximately 6.3 x 1.5cm, gross weight 11.7 grams.
Made at the height of the jazz age, this spectacular brooch is emblematic of Art Deco design in its geometric shapes and the pairing of sapphire and diamond. This is a lively piece: the glittering central diamond is enhanced by the pave-set diamonds surrounding it. This brooch catches the light beautifully and would be stunning on a silk scarf or even on a tie.
