More informationA Belle Epoque natural pearl and diamond sautoir necklace, centred with an openwork plaque of geometric design, encrusted with swiss-cut diamonds and pearls, suspending two pear-shaped pearls and a diamond bead terminating to a tassel, the scroll-designed top of the tassel suspending a fringe of three diamond-encrusted rows and six graduating rows of natural pearls, all hung from a long mesh chain of natural seed pearls and twenty one old-cut diamonds, accompanied by GCS Report stating that the four hundred and twelve pearls are natural of saltwater origin, the diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 7 carats, all mounted in platinum, bearing Austrian platinum import marks, circa 1915, the chain measuring approximately 62cm in length, gross weight 41 grams.
An exquisite early twentieth century natural pearl and diamond sautoir necklace. The mesh chain is set with lustrous pearls and glinting diamonds. Hung from the chain is a gorgeous geometric plaque set with further dazzling diamonds from which is suspended an impressive pearl tassel fringe. The overall effect of this piece is one of romance and splendour. This piece is emblematic of the period between the turn of the century and the beginning of Art Deco style: it is elegant and graceful and makes a wonderful statement.
