More informationA fine Vintage emerald and diamond necklace, the fourteen octagonal-cut emeralds estimated to weigh 17 carats in total, the ten larger of Colombian origin, each surrounded by scalloped-edge frame set with old European-cut diamonds, connected with fourteen openwork links of triangular shape, each set with an old European cut diamond, the diamonds estimated to weigh 14.5 carats in total, all millegrain-set in platinum mount, circa 1950, accompanied by four openwork links of rectangular shape that can be used as back extension, the necklace measuring 39.5 x 1.5cm, and 44.5 x 1.5cm with the extension, gross weight 32.2 grams.
A magnificent necklace. Emeralds are a verdant, romantic jewel, closely associated with Venus in classical mythology. This shimmering necklace features fourteen exquisite emeralds, each set in a lovely frame of twinkling diamonds. This necklace, created in the mid-nineteenth century, is reminiscent of the old-Hollywood glamour of a bygone era. Because of the delicate platinum work, the emeralds and diamonds appear to float on the wearer’s neck, exuding hypnotic beauty.
