More informationA Victorian garnet and diamond pendant, the inverted pear-shaped cabochon garnet measuring approximately 2.1 x 1.6cm, surmounted by a floral and foliate top with detachable pendant loop and suspending a foliate drop, set throughout with old European and rose-cut diamonds, the diamonds estimated to weigh 1 ¼ carats in total, all set in silver and yellow gold, with a glass locket compartment to the reverse, circa 1870, measuring approximately 6 x 2.1cm, gross weight 11.4 grams.
A magnificent High Victorian pendant. This ornate pendant features a large glowing cabochon garnet decorated by floral and foliate details set with sparkling old-cut diamonds. This gorgeous piece captures the dramatic style of the mid-nineteenth century, when garnet became very popular for its vivid and lush hue. This pendant would look beautiful hung from either a velvet ribbon or heavy Victorian chain.
