More informationAn Edwardian pearl and diamond berry brooch, the button-shaped pearl measuring approximately 6.7 mm in diameter, accompanied by GCS report stating to be natural of saltwater origin, the old European-cut diamond weighing 0.42 carats, assessed to be of G colour and SI clarity, both surmounted as stylized berries with diamond-embellished stem atop of a bar set with Swiss-cut diamonds estimated to weigh a total of ¼ carat, all millegrain-set in platinum with gold back and brooch fitting, circa 1915, measuring 4.1 x 1.3 cm, gross weight 3 grams.
A delicate and dainty brooch. This brooch was made in 1915 during the Edwardian era, in which jewellery had a lightness and airiness designed to imitate the most delicate lace, made possible because of the advances in platinum production. The diamonds in this brooch sparkle beautifully, and the old European-cut diamond and natural pearl used to emulate berries add a special charm to the brooch. Naturalistic and romantic, this brooch would be a lovely accessory on the lapel of a jacket.
