A sapphire and diamond Art Deco brooch-pendant, the cushion-shaped sapphire estimated to weigh 20 carats and assessed to be of Sri Lankan origin, centrally-set to an openwork panel of geometric Mughal-style design, set with old brilliant-cut diamonds estimated to weigh 6¼ carats in total, all millegrain-set in platinum mount with white gold detachable brooch and pendant fittings, marked Platin, possibly Italian, circa 1925, measuring as a brooch 6.7×3.5cm, gross weight 33.5 grams.

A dazzling brooch featuring an enchanting deep sea-blue sapphire at the centre. The eyes are drawn immediately to the sapphire which serves as the centrepiece, surrounded by scintillating diamonds set on the open-work panel. The curving lines at the sides of the brooch provide a nice element of fluidity to the linear panel, which is geometric, and typically Art Deco in style. This gorgeous brooch can also be used as a statement pendant and would look stunning against black.
