A Victorian sapphire and diamond bee brooch, the thorax set with a cushion shaped sapphire surrounded by old-cut diamonds, the abdomen with a single row of cushion-shaped sapphires set between two rows of diamonds and terminating to a single sapphire, the sapphire and diamond-set head embellished with two cabochon-cut ruby-set eyes, the legs and wings encrusted with small rose-cut diamonds, the sapphires estimated to weigh 1¼ carats in total, the diamonds estimated to weigh 2½ carats in total, all grain-set in silver and yellow gold, with later gold brooch fitting, circa 1880, measuring 4.5×2.2cm, gross weight 9.6 grams
