An Art Nouveau Enamel Floral Necklace
An Art Nouveau enamel floral necklace, comprising a main flower embellished with an old brilliant-cut diamond to the centre, with a surmount of three further flowers with natural pearl centre and foliate motifs, the finely modelled petals and leaves in shaded pink and green opalescent enamel, all set on yellow gold with rope-design scroll backing, to a yellow gold trace chain embellished with seed pearls, the pendant measuring approximately 3.7 x 2.9cm, the chain measuring approximately 40cm long, gross weight 8.7 grams, circa 1890.
A beautiful Art Nouveau necklace. Art Nouveau, meaning ‘new art’ in French is an artistic style exemplified by naturalistic shapes and floral motifs. This necklace features a lovely, swagged design with a suspended central flower. The flower is exquisitely enamelled in shades of peach and pale yellow and has a single lively diamond set to its centre. Above the flower are a further two flowers and two pale green leaves. Surrounding the naturalistic flora is an elegantly curved gold frame which suspends the entire central drop from a chain set with lustrous pearls. A gorgeous antique piece.
