A captivating ring featuring a sapphire cameo of a gorgeous light sky-blue colour depicting Hercules. Used as a mark of wealth, cameos and intaglios have been collected and adorned since antiquity, and were also used extensively as amulets to bring good luck and fortune to the wearer. The 18th century saw a wide resurgence in the collecting, and creation of jewellery which featured mythical Gods and symbols. This ring reflects a strong interest in neoclassical themes and images of Ancient Greece and Rome. The blue sapphire catches the light beautifully, adding an almost-iridescent sheen to the face of Hercules when worn on the finger. A wonderful ring.
